At Hobson, our executive director and teachers partner with and support families during this unique stage of early childhood. As a cooperative school, we rely on families to play an active role in the classroom and in the life of the school. This model not only strengthens our community, but also allows parents to better understand their child’s learning, build meaningful relationships with faculty and other families, and share in the joy of the preschool experience. Children benefit as well—they see their caregivers engaged, experience a strong sense of connection, and learn within a truly collaborative environment.

We provide ongoing professional development centered on equity and diversity, offer resources to help parents talk with children about inclusion, and welcome families to share traditions and participate in classroom activities. Our goal is to help children develop a strong sense of belonging and care for themselves and others. Grounded in the principles of anti-bias education, our program supports children as they learn about themselves, explore the world around them, and interact with peers and adults with empathy, respect, and fairness.
